BLZN

BLZN - given name, Benjamin Miedema - is an American producer, rapper, and DJ based in Tokyo, Japan, sharing the song in his heart with music lovers around the world. BLZN grew up listening to Kanye West, JAY-Z, J. Cole, Kid Cudi. He always dreamed of making music, but fear and expectation kept him silent. He was pushed toward a traditional life: go to school and land a corporate job.

But after losing his father during college, everything changed. That moment made him realize life was too short to live for anyone else. He stopped living for other people and started making music.

“After my father passed away, something inside me needed to express emotions I couldn’t put into words. The only time I truly felt those emotions was when I was listening to music.”

Now, BLZN fuses soulful production, introspective lyrics, and gritty energy into a sound that speaks to those who want more out of life, but don't quite fit in. After moving to Tokyo with just a laptop and a keyboard, he began producing for others, then started rapping on his own beats—blending vulnerable storytelling with underground aesthetics.

Beyond the music, BLZN curates unique live events that bring people together—often filled with hand crafted lineups, classic drinking games from his college days in the US, and authentic vibes. His art isn’t about perfection—it’s about honesty, identity, and choosing your own path, no matter when or where in your life you start.

"blue" is BLZN’s debut self-produced album. It starts with introductions then turns into a night out together. BLZN came to Japan thinking he would only produce and make beats. However, seeing his friends record and perform, he thought it looked fun and he wanted to give it a try. He produces his own songs and he writes his own lyrics. He wants these songs to feel like an anthem for anybody trying to keep going when life gets heavy. He moved to Tokyo with a laptop and a keyboard and began producing for others, then he started rapping on his own beats. That is where this album comes from.

It opens with "Ship It". BLZN talks about why he started, standing up for what you believe in, not being scared of what people think, and making something for people who need a light and a reason to fight. Then the party starts.

"First Drink" is the feeling right before the big night. Friday energy, the pregame at his place, the first shot of tequila, all his best friends, and the weekend finally starting. 華金, BLZNのParty, スッキルしてる初のdrink.

"Once Upon A Time In Shibuya" is us stepping into the city. Showing up in the city with the last train, practicing raps outside a convenience store, flirting at the izakaya, dragging a friend who drank too much, the club line wrapping around the block. Mini skirts, 前髪, メルトダウン.

"Shake It" is BLZN on stage making the room move. It is right before the climax. The show is sold out. Stand up and shout. Shake it baby, 今朝clubに起きてまだwanna get wasted.

"Breathe Baby" is the climax of the night. Dancing until morning. The two become one in the song. Together until the sun comes up.

After that, the album shifts into the reasons BLZN makes music. "Luv U Anyway" is about trying to build a future with music and how that clashes with dating and family plans. He asks her to love him while he grinds. It is him choosing the long road because a normal life did not make him feel alive.

"Wanted" is tearing down what is fake. Tora crashes the fancy dinner and blows it up so they can start again. First they laugh at them, then they wonder how it happened. A hero stands up even when the world calls him scum. He builds a new world rhyme by rhyme while others join him.

"Enough" is the moment BLZN stops letting comparison run his life. He flips the voice in his head from you were never enough into you always were enough. That is the prayer. Count your blessings every morning, accept what is given, watch the sunset in the evening, and keep going.

There are two bonuses. "Heiwa Na Sekai" is a song BLZN made in one night with his crew. It feels like a dream, flowers on the head, daruma wishes, flying in the sky, bring some love where you come. Then a "Breathe Baby" remix with FL$WNGRZ turns the peak up one more level.

Everything is self-made and bilingual, and it connects BLZN’s life in the U.S. with his life in Tokyo.

If you read this far, I just wanna say thanks for the love. I hope we can chill together sometime.
